Second career?

Sometimes, I wonder if some eating disorder clinicians are failed poets.  This kind of purple prose is just so bad, it's laughable:

Dr. Michael Strober, director of the eating disorder center at UCLA’s Neuropsychiatric Institute says, “A woman becomes anorexic because her soul has been battered by the unreasonable expectation that you can never be too thin and that fat -any fat- equals failure.”

I am sure a few of my readers would love to tell me about their soul battering experiences......

  1. The way I see it is that the symptoms of an ED and the iron grip of fear that results is what batter the body, mind and soul of a sufferer.
