Comfort and joy?

Christmas is terribly hard for eating disorder patients.  This week, on the forum, we have one missing (see blog below), one admitted to hospital for emergency teatment and new members from all over the world, every single hour.

They always say that divorce lawyers are busiest in January, after the strain of Christmas rips families apart.  Throw on top of that a child who is unable to eat and join in the festivities at all, as they in the midst of the most lethal brain disorder and you can see the mouth of hell.

Whilst skyping with the Fairy Blogmother on New Year's Eve, she was bemoaning the fact that Christmas is our busiest time with new members and families falling apart.  Always glass half full, I pointed out that the lost child had been found, the child we had all been so worried about had got a place in hospital and that the forum IS there for those who need it and becomes easier to find every day.

Christmas may be all about God and consumerism.  However, the true spirit of loving and giving and support and love is out there in the ether, if only you know where to look for it.

  1. Thank you Charlotte! I just referred another mom to the ATDT forum. Seems this time of year the severity does spike but I too have to see the glass half full. For it can be a turn in severity that gets the person to find more and better treatments which can initiate the turn toward full recovery.

Have you heard of parents successfully utilizing Maudsley FBT with an 18 year old? The mom and daughter have very good relationship and both are willing. I sent them info on Maudsley.
    Thanks
